Q&A with LEF’s Newest Trustee: Amin Bhat
The Loudoun Education Foundation is excited to introduce Amin Bhat as the newest member of its Board of Trustees. Amin is a proud parent of two Loudoun County Public Schools graduates, and is the co-founder of iQuasar, a Loudoun County-based information technology and business process consulting services company.
Amin has two bachelor’s degrees, an executive education from Boston and George Mason universities, and more than 25 years of professional experience in information technology, business consulting, and other domains across commercial and government sectors.
His passion lies in supporting quality education, especially in the science and technology sectors, and empowering the community’s less fortunate children and youth.
We caught up with Amin this week to ask him more about his passion for STEM education and what led him to LEF. Here’s what he had to say:
Q: What fueled your decision to join the LEF Board of Trustees?
Amin: We have deep connections to Loudoun County having lived here for the last 16 years. Our business also operates in Loudoun County. So, we are indebted to our local Loudoun community. And given my desire to support quality education and empowerment of less fortunate children and youth in our communities, there is no better organization than LEF. LEF supports our LCPS system and the best way to give back to our community is through LEF/LCPS which totally aligns with our values and my passion.
Q: Is there a specific program or specific challenge you’re eager to tackle?
Amin: Given the critical role STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education will continue to play in the years ahead in advancing communities, my interests and community work specifically focuses on providing STEM resources to less resourceful children and youth, so supporting STEM would interest me the most.
Q: What other organizations are you involved in?
Amin: I also serve on the board of the Kashmir Education Initiative, a Boston-based nonprofit organization that provides quality education to children and youth in Kashmir. I am also on the Executive Circle of Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC), which serves as the voice of Northern Virginia’s technology industry.
